Jerusalem Scavenger Hunts
Sunday, November 11, 2012 14:37 No Comments
Last week I had the opportunity to attend a free bloggers scavenger hunt in the quaint neighborhood of Nachlaot in Jerusalem. The scavenger hunt, one of a few options offered by Tali Tarlow of Jerusalem Scavenger Hunts, provided a fun and enlightening group activity.
We started the morning off with a brief history of the area and an explanation of what we had to do. We were provided with everything we needed – a mission pack including an instruction booklet, map, source sheets, notepad and pencil, and a few shekels that we were told to spend in an interesting way. We split up into teams and were instructed to divide up all the various tasks between team members – a great idea that gives everyone a chance to be involved and actively participate!
We spent a few exciting hours following directions, searching for famous landmarks, streets and interesting tidbits, taking in a lot of the history of the area and the stories of the families who lived there over the years. It was really hard to decide whether to try to make it to the finish first or to stop and take the time to absorb the sites, the history, and the feel of the olden-day intertwined with the modern.
We ended our morning with a round-up by Tali, and some scrumptious hot soup and fresh rolls, thanks to the Village Green restaurant.
The scavenger hunts are a must for anyone who appreciates a well-organized, enjoyable and enlightening experience. They cater to all ages and tastes; whether you’re a tourist from abroad, a newcomer to the city, or have lived there for years, there’s something for everyone to take in and take home.
