Due to the possibility of electricity shortages over the coming summer, the Israel Electric Corporation (Chevrat HaChashmal) is offering an incentive for those who reduce their electricity consumption. For the months of June-July and August-September, customers who reduce their bi-monthly usage for 2012 in comparison with the corresponding months in 2011, will be eligible for discounts.

A household that reduces its bi-monthly electricity consumption by 15-20%, will receive a 10% discount on their bill. A household that reduces its bi-monthly bill by 20-30% will receive a 20% discount on their bill. A household that reduces its electricity consumption by more than 30% will not receive a price reduction (on the premise that most of these clients were probably away from home at the time).

Private customers who wish to join the full period of the incentive must sign up for the offer by May 31; customers who sign up before July 1 (but after May 31) can join the program for the second half (Aug-Sep).

As per the publication of the Fuel Authority in the Ministry of National Infrastructure yesterday (Thursday) the price of gasoline will drop by 0.61% (4 agorot  per liter) at the beginning of August.

A liter of Octane 95 gas will cost 6.60 NIS for full service (and 5.70 NIS in Eilat).
